Getting ready for Christmas in December

We had only one thing on our mind in December, and that was CHRISTMAS!
We made some beautiful Christmas artwork.

We made reindeer and Christmas trees by cutting triangles and handprints. We made clay Christmas decorations by rolling clay and using cutters. We then covered them in glitter. Glitter makes everything look Christmassy!

We made beautiful nativity scenes by cutting shapes and using lollipop sticks.

We painted Christmas trees whatever way we liked!

During Aistear we played in Santa's Workshop role-play corner. We pretended to be Santa;s helpers and wrapped presents for all  the good boys and girls.

We learned the rhyme When Santa got Stuck up the Chimney.

We had a carol service in the hall where we sang some songs related to the story of the First Christmas.

Santa came to visit on our last day of school before the holidays. We were allowed wear our Christmas jumpers that day. We had a wonderful day!

The Sleepy Shepherd Nativity Play

We performed a play based on the story of the First Christmas.

It was called The Sleepy Shepherd.
We had lines to say and lots of songs to learn. We practiced nearly every day in December.
It was all worth it in the end because we were absolutely fantastic!

We performed the play for the mammies and daddies on Thursday the 17th December.
Click here to see pictures of this performance.

We performed the play for our school on Friday the 18th December.

In November we learned all about food, glorious food!

We visited a cafe. We ordered and paid for food.

We had the cafe as our role play area in Aistear.

We tasted lots of fruit.

We made a data chart based on our favourite fruit.

We painted fruit.

We crumpled up crepe paper to make fruit.

We made this display based on the story Handa's Surprise.

Listen to the story here.

We printed fruit onto paper.

We made fruit people.

We planted garlic in the school garden.

We even made butter by shaking double cream!

It was delicious.

The Fashion Show

Teacher told us we were going to take part in a fashion show. We had to make something out of recyclable materials.

We decided to make hats or necklaces. Some of us made both!

The School Walk

Back in October we went on a walk to Corkagh Park.
We had so much fun!

We all wore high-visibilty vests to keep safe on our walk.

Sam Maguire visited Scoil Mhuire

Sam Maguire visited our school after Dublin won the All Ireland football championship.

UP THE DUBS!!

Fun in October

We had so much fun in October.

We learned about school.
Look at some of the things we did.

John came to visit our classroom. He is the caretaker.
He told us about all the things he does in school. He is so helpful.

We drew pictures of John in our copies.

We went on a tour of the school.

We learned about autumn.

We drew autumn trees and we painted autumn trees.

We made hedgehogs.

We went on a walk to look for the signs of autumn.

We made potions and pumpkins for Halloween.
